One of the primary threads in the debate surrounding this concept points to the inaccuracy of the name itself, as several analyses emphasize that the term “AI psychosis” suggests an oversimplified causal link, while the stories presented often center on delusional spirals, heightened anxiety, severe sleep deprivation, or the obsessive fixation of false beliefs, which do not always cover the full clinical picture of psychosis. Experts therefore urge caution, treating the phenomenon not as a new disease but as a specific context where the operational characteristics of chatbots and individual vulnerability meet in an unfortunate way. To put it simply, chatbots create a unique communication space where the machine responds with infinite patience, constant availability, and a fundamentally collaborative, supportive tone to even the user’s most personal disclosures.
